Dr Anna Kadzik-Bartoszewska is a visual artist based in Ireland whose practice explores the intersection of fine art, architecture, and historical landscape memory. With a background in fine art, architecture and urban planning, and art history, she approaches painting and mixed-media work as a form of spatial and material investigation.
Her practice is concerned with the tension between construction and erosion, permanence and disappearance, and the accumulation of memory within physical space. Working primarily on large-scale canvases, she constructs tactile surfaces through layers of plaster, modelling materials, acrylics, and gold and silver leaf. These material processes transform the canvas into an abstract spatial field, evoking architectural fragments, archaeological traces, and remembered landscapes.
Rather than depicting specific places, Kadzik-Bartoszewska uses material, structure, and surface to suggest spaces that exist between memory and abstraction. Through processes of layering, covering, scraping, and revealing, her surfaces become physical archives in which traces of previous forms remain partially visible. Thresholds, fragments, recesses, and architectural rhythms recur throughout the work, creating a sense of passage between interior and exterior, presence and absence.
Her work has been exhibited in Ireland and internationally, including exhibitions in Dublin, Padua, London, Krakow and Brussels. Her paintings are represented through Saatchi Art, with works held in private collections across Ireland, the United Kingdom, Belgium, France, and Poland.
Kadzik-Bartoszewska holds a PhD in Art History from University College Dublin, alongside degrees in Fine Arts and Architecture & Urban Planning from Krakow.
