Threshold I opens the series with a quiet act of revelation.

Built through successive layers of plaster, mineral pigment, sand and acrylic, the surface is excavated rather than painted. A fractured vertical line interrupts an expansive field of light, revealing a narrow seam of aged gold beneath. The dark architectural form emerging at the base suggests a remembered structure rather than a defined place.

This work explores the spaces between presence and absence—where architecture dissolves into memory and light becomes evidence of time. Every mark records a process of covering, scraping and uncovering, allowing the painting to evolve through its own history.

Rather than depicting a landscape, Threshold I invites contemplation of a psychological space: a threshold between what remains and what has disappeared.
