Vestige III – Strata

Vestige III – Strata continues the Vestige series through an exploration of layered surfaces, structure and the quiet passage of time. Built through successive applications of acrylic and mixed media using palette-knife techniques, the painting reveals a textured surface where each layer partially conceals and reveals the one beneath.

Contrasting geometric forms anchor the composition against an expansive horizon, where soft light emerges through muted tones of stone, charcoal, deep blue and restrained metallic gold. The balance between solidity and atmosphere creates a sense of stillness, suggesting traces of architecture gradually absorbed into the landscape.

Rather than depicting a specific place, Vestige III – Strata reflects on the enduring marks left by time and transformation. The work invites prolonged viewing, with subtle variations in texture and light revealing new details as the painting changes throughout the day.
